What can you expect DURING a session?
I usually start and end a session with a short guided meditation, to help people arrive into the process and as a way of closing the space at the end of our time together. You don’t need any experience in meditation to do these exercises.
During the initial intake session, you will have a chance to talk about your main concerns and what has brought you to the appointment. I will also be asking you a lot of questions about your medical and social history in order to try to understand the root causes of present distress. This is a therapeutic relationship, and all information will be held in confidentiality, with great care.
During follow-up sessions, you will have the opportunity to talk about your experience since our last appointment, and I will ask questions to better understand how your herbal formula has been supporting you, and how to craft your next formula.
Your herbal formula is a 2 oz bottle of combined tinctures and essences. Tinctures are potent plant extracts made from herbs that have been extracted in alcohol and water. Essences hold the energetic essence of plants or stones. Each herbal formula you receive has been created specifically for you, and I will mail this formula to you a few days after our session together, along with information about what is in your formula and why.
In addition to sending you a formula, I will also send along recommendations to support you in your healing work. This could look like breathing exercises, somatic practices, food recommendations, book recommendations or ritual ideas. This is not “homework” that you are required to do! These recommendations are intended to be an additional support in your day-to-day effort to shift patterns.
If energy work is something that you are interested in, this can be incorporated into our sessions or scheduled separately. For clients I see in-person, you get to relax on a heated massage table, fully-clothed, while I hold your head and feet. All other touch is navigated by conversation and consent. This work can especially be useful for shifting patterns, for releasing something that feels stuck and for replenishing if you feel depleted.
